One of our TRUE Africa 100, Zanele Muholi, the visual activist and LGBTI advocate, is opening her first solo exhibition at the Malmö Fotobiennal.
In association with Galleri Vasli Souza, We Live In Fear is a powerful body of work, featuring portraits of predominantly South African lesbians and trans men. Zanele says, ‘I wanted to fill a gap in South Africa’s visual history that, even 10 years after the fall of apartheid, wholly excluded our very existence.’
We interviewed Zanele Muholi as the very first TRUE Africa 100. Read the piece to find out more about what drives her work.
The exhibition is opening September 11, 2015 at the Galleri Vasli Souza during the Malmö Fotobiennal 2015.
