Moroccan defender Mehdi Benatia seems to be within days of signing on the dotted line for Serie A champions Juventus, but the Bayern Munich player will need to consider some last minute interest from Italian rivals AC Milan before making a final decision.

The talented 29-year-old played for Udinese and Roma in the Italian top flight between 2010 and 2014, before moving to the German giants, but he is now keen on a return to Serie A.

Turin-based Juventus have been Benatia’s likely destination throughout the transfer season, with only a few details left to iron out, but the Rossoneri have now emerged with a rival bid to take the defender to San Siro.

Milan are offering the defender regular playing time in the starting eleven, which is a promise that Juventus simply cannot make.

The Bianconero defensive unit comprised of Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Barzagli is established and considered one of the best defensive lines in world football.

It will certainly be difficult for Benatia to cement a consistent role for himself in Turin, but the decision remains his to make, as he is set to leave Germany for good with two important offers on the table.
