South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) giants Kaizer Chiefs are close to completing the signing of Bloemfontein Celtic winger Thapelo Morena.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding season for the Free State-based club, having already scored five goals for the team. His performances have also caught the eye of national team selectors, earning him a place in the Bafana squad.

The player, who is quite comfortable marauding forward in attack as well as tracking back to support his defence, is now firmly in the sights of Soweto-club Kaizer Chiefs, who are looking to inject some additional pace on their right flank.

It is early days for the transfer market in South Africa, with the league having recently concluded, but a TRUE Africa source suggests that Morena’s deal with the Glamour Boys is virtually done in principle.

The player is excited at the possibility of joining Chiefs, and it is a matter of the clubs deciding on the details, which should not be a stumbling block.

There is interest in the player from other quarters of the local game, however, and Chiefs would do well to move swiftly in capturing the winger from Phunya Sele Sele, in order to be sure of securing his services for the 2016/17 season.
