Gaborone International Music and Culture Week (GIMC) is usually a big deal – it is Botswana’s biggest music and arts festival – but this year it promises to be even bigger.
It will kick off the month-long celebrations leading up to 50 years since independence on September 30.
From Saturday 27 August until Saturday 3 September, there will be jazz, theatre, choral, comedy and music all around the city. You’ll get a chance to see Jonathan Butler, Black Coffee, Riky Rick, Trevor Gumbi, Lebo Mashile, Lihle Lindzy and the Ugandan comedian Salvado.
We’re particularly looking forward to the music festival with Black Coffee, DJ Fresh, Riky Rick, BanT and Faded Gang.
We’ll be reporting from the festival, so keep an eye out for the hashtag #GimcXperience.
