Graphic designer Xolani Dani and photographer Theodore Afrika make up the Cape Town duo or collective known as Dead Chums.

Fusing their two disciplines, these two artists create an ongoing series of interesting and often confrontational work and conversations through a series of images, installations and performance art pieces.

Some of the images (the bathtub ones) are from their performance at the Youngblood Gallery in Cape Town – taken by photographer Nkosinathi Mkongi.

Their creative mantra is: ‘Dead Chums is whatever you think is!’ They play to the notion that people viewing their work should not be boxed in by their explanation or description of the projects; people should interpret their work and decide what it means to them.

When they’re not collaborating you can catch Theodore doing shoots across the world and Xolani creating some pretty sick graphics.
