2015 has been a great year for new African music. We saw American hip-hop artists and Afrobeats megastars come together for some sick collabs. We’ve selected some of our favourites this year to celebrate the diversity coming out of our continent. The year ain’t over yet, but have a listen and enjoy:
If you’ve ever been to an African wedding you know who Awilo Longomba is. If you don’t know him by name you’ll know his all-time classic tunes like Karolina. The Congolese legend Awilo teamed up with Nigerian R’n’B twins, P-Square to bring us Enemy Solo. P-Square are are signed to Konvict Muzik; Akon himself has done a remix of their hit Chop My Money. This may not be your classic African wedding banger, but close enough with Awilo’s zouk touch!
I think this is the closest you can get to a Nigerian version of R’n’B classic Dilemma with Nelly and Kelly Rowlands. Naija reigning queen Tiwa Savage teamed up with Afropop star Solidstar for the love ballad. Play it to your baby jollof.
Ghanaian DJ and producer DJ Juls collaborated with MC Aina More on this fresh track. The Nigerian Londoner Aina More has been doing her thing for years. In 2013 she released the hilarious video for Jaburata. One of her latest tune Girls Killing It is an ode to all the women out there, well, killing it.
Wizkid, Drake and Skepta. Together on one track. Need we say more? When Ojuelegba came out, everyone was floored by the song’s realness. Wizkid took you to the streets of Lagos where he started and Drake and Skepta’s mix takes the song global.

There were plenty more collaborations this year that deserve an honorary mention. Tell us the ones we missed out on Twitter using #TRUEAfrica
