Eytys have teamed up with South African artist Esther Mahlangu for a trainer collection.
Mahlangu’s life-sized paintings are internationally renowned. Coming from the Ndebele people, Mahlangu was taught to paint ornate, geometric patterns in line with tradition since the age of 10. Mahlangu’s work has included coating the 12th BMW Art Car – the first woman to do so. This collaboration with Eytys is her latest.
Artwork by Mahlangu is stitched onto the backs of Eyty’s suede shoes with Mahlangu’s signature inside the shoe. It’s a blend of contemporary Stockholm cool with a touch of Mahlangu’s intense and rich artwork – a clash of two cultures at its best.
