Disney has released the first image from biographical drama The Queen of Katwe.
The film is about Ugandan chess prodigy, Phiona Mutsei who dreams of becoming an international chess champion despite facing the reality of living in the slums of Kampala. Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o plays her mother and Star Wars actor David Oyelowo stars too.
Newcomer Madina Nalwanga will play Phiona and can be seen below with Lupita. The film has been mostly filmed on location in Uganda.
The Queen of Katwe will be released this autumn.
