The Nigerian team has won the Women’s Africa Cup of  Nations for the eighth time as the team beat Cameroon 1-0  in the finals.

The reigning champions have dominated the competition since its inception winning all but two of the editions.

Despite having tremendous support on their home turf in Yaoundé – an estimated 40,000 people rammed in the stadium and in the presence of President Paul Biya –  the Cameroon team were once again forced to take second place against the Super Falcons, a repeat of the 2014 finals.

Cameroon’s dream ended during the second half when a goal from the strong-legged Desire Oparanozie hit the back of the net, breaking the 0-0 deadlock with seven minutes from the end of the game.

2010, 2014, 2016….3 trophies, scored in all of the 3 finals, 13 AWCON goals. What's with the number “3”……? #Proud
