Star Wars actor John Boyega picked up the EE Rising Star Award at the British Academy Film Awards tonight.

The actor beat off competition from Dakota Johnson, Brie Larson, Taron Egerton and Bel Powley. He joins Tom Hardy, Kristen Stewart and James McAvoy who’ve won the gong which recognises up-and-coming talent in the industry.

Boyega’s speech proved that he’s as charming off screen as he is on.

‘I haven’t been doing this for a long time, it’s a fluke,’ he said on stage.

‘I’m going to share this with all the young dreamers who are determined and hardworking – this is for you.’

Star Wars VIII starts filming tomorrow but that would be the last thing stopping him from going to the after party. As he said to the Daily Star, ‘I don’t really have a cut off time, my mum and dad are in Nigeria so they can’t call me and tell me off.’

He’s funny, he’s talented and he looked pretty damn fine too. Nice suit, John.
