The Star Wars actress will play alongside Brit Idris Elba to bring the classic children’s book to life.
Portraits of the stars ‘beside’ their CGI characters were released today.
The Kenyan actress has been busy in Broadway-show Eclipsed. Idris Elba plays the powerful tiger, Shere Khan and Lupita Nyong’o is the kind wolf Raksha, who looks after Mowgli. The film is a giant leap into the 21st Century and very different from the 1967 animated film. The experience was enlightening for Lupita: ‘I really enjoyed preparing for this and learning about wolves and how social they are, how they stick together,’
‘There’s such an order—a hierarchy—to a wolf pack. Mowgli tries to fit in with the other wolf pups. He has his challenges, but he is very much a part of the pack as far as Raksha is concerned.’
