Team Rwanda are training a selection of female cyclists to take part in the UCI Women’s WorldTour in 2017.
The team would be the first all-black and female cycling team of its kind. The names of the cyclists are unconfirmed but nationalities represented would include Rwanda, Eritrea and Ethiopia. Star Rwandan cyclist Jean d’Arc Girubuntu has been earmarked for the team.

‘It is still early, we do not yet have all that we need to create and maintain the team. Currently, I am identifying and approaching potential sponsors, particularly in the United States,’ said the Rwanda Cycling Team head of marketing and logistics, Kimberly Coasts to AllAfrica. Either way, the team would be making history by even participating.
