Clumsy is a hip-hop artist from Midrand, Joburg. He tells us about his new single Haiyo and the level of support he gets from his peers.

Introduce yourself.

My name is Moeketsi Maesela aka Clumsy, a new artist under Red Music Entertainment. I’m an artist and songwriter. I’m currently staying in Midrand. My genre of music is hip-hop and trap music, and I have a new single titled Haiyo.

What are your musical influences?

My musical influences are around my family and the people around me. All the good times and the challenges I’ve been through are the major influences that help me be hungry for more, to make more and better music for the people.

There’s a lot of respect when the hood sees you doing good.

Because my style and music is different from the others. Another major influence is the new age trap music.

What’s it like to work in the music industry where you are?

Working from where I am is pretty chilled. It’s a bit far from a lot of things but the support is crazy. There’s a lot of respect when the hood sees you doing good so it really helps and motivate me to keep doing more.

What’s a night out like where you live?

It’s pretty crazy and at the same time it’s more like having a support group behind you. We all move as a unit, from one club to the other, a few shows here and there.

Tell us about your latest single Haiyo. What’s it about?

Haiyo is basically a song addressing a not so dope come up. It speaks of a big dreamer with a plan against all the odds and those who doubted him but suddenly they want to tag along. ‘Haiyo ntwamahala’ (nothing is free) – it’s time to invest in your movement and make sure it makes changes in your life and also motivate other people to never doubt their plans that they make to have a better future.
