Music skill seems to run in the family: Lagos star Burna Boy’s younger sister is also an artist and she has just released a track ahead of a debut album later this year.

Nissi is a 22-year old singer unlike her rapper brother. Her single that dropped yesterday samples Fela Kuti classic Teacher Don’t Teach Me Nonsense and is a politically-conscious ode to many issues happening right now.

She describes ‘bombs going off like it’s a celebration/What a contradiction’ and urges people to be politically aware: ‘We don’t talk about that freedom/But what is the outcome if we don’t see past that mirror?’

You’ll have to wait until October to hear the rest of her album, called Downtown. Nissi will also be a support act on October 1 for Burna Boy’s London concert.
