For the first time ever on Parisian soil comes a new contemporary art and design fair centered on Africa: AKAA (Also Known As Africa).
Launched to showcase contemporary talent across Africa, in an attempt to become the French 1:54, AKAA took place at the historic Carreau du Temple, the glass and metal jewel in the Marais district of Paris.
Coinciding with the popular Paris Photo festival, the AKAA team purposefully launched at the same time in order to draw in the international collectors who were already in the capital.

30 galleries and 123 contemporary artists showcased the richness and diversity of contemporary art and design from Africa. The small but exciting inaugural event was a success and plans for the second edition are already well underway. Here is a little round up of my favourites:
