Black women are clapping back.

When cosmetics brand MAC published a photo of Ugandan model Aamito Lagum’s lips on Instagram, the photo was met with a flood of racist comments from trolls online.

The #PrettyLipsPeriod hashtag was launched by a few black women on Instagram to celebrate the beauty of black lips instead. The hashtag has since travelled on to other social networks such as Twitter and Facebook.
