Something Else, Off Biennale Cairo is a month-long event of exhibits, workshops, film screenings and art performances taking place in Cairo.
The event has been created to ‘push further for a progressive presentation of the art scene in Egypt and to move away from stereotypes’. There’s a variety of work including Italian artist Romina de Novellis’s performance work which will take place in urban spaces across the city.
The event started on November 28 with over 110 artists taking part and various venues hosting the events. The main venue is the beautiful contemporary arts centre Darb 1718 in Old Cairo. An exciting array of creatives are in the capital for the event including the curator and writer Simon Njami.
