INSTAGRAM TAKEOVER ALERT – Kessiana Edewor-Thorley will be taking over our TRUE Africa instagram account for Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2016, on 27.10.2016.

Follow the action @_TRUEAfrica

LFDW 2016 has hit Nigeria’s cosmopolitan city of Lagos and every fashionista is bringing out their Loubs and fixing their weaves in anticipation. The multi-day fashion event is the highlight of the calendar as buyers, consumers and the media view the latest trends and collections from designers in the African fashion industry. Expect outrageous designs, music stars and celebs sitting FROW, all-night after parties and more.

And who better to take us along as her VIP plus one than Temple Muse PR Girl herself, Kessiana Edewor-Thorley?

Kessiana – or ‘Kessy’ as she is fondly known as – is the ever-so-slightly taller twin of Nigeria’s Queen of the Red Carpet, Eku Edewor. Kessy is the Press & Marketing Manager for Africa’s leading luxury lifestyle concept store, Temple Muse, as well as the co-founder of ET Creative.

She is a firm favourite on the fashion scene from Lagos to London, Milan, Paris and New York; plus she’s previously modelled herself. Kessy had the job ‘a million girls would die for’ and worked in fashion Mecca (Vogue) as a fashion intern. Add to that her roles as Sales & Marketing to luxury fashion brands Lot78 and LAZUL, you see why we want to tag along with this lady!

With her impeccable eye for style, this fresh-faced and freckled Nigerian beauty has kindly agreed to be our eyes during this LFDW 2016 and takes over the TRUE Africa Instagram account on Thursday 27 October. We asked her what trends to expect, fashion week dos and don’ts and her fashion survival kit.

FAVOURITE AFRICAN DESIGNER(S)

For the evening and for night vibes, Lisa Folawiyo and Ituen Basi. When I am feeling edgy I love I.AM.ISIGO, and for daytime wear it has got to be Tzar.

5 FASHION TRENDS TO LOOK OUT FOR DURING LFDW 2016

The over-exaggerated off-the-shoulder top; ‘fashion-mogul’ mules; remixed ankara prints; barely-there ripped denim; the tunic.

HOW TO GET FROW OR BACKSTAGE

Temple Muse Buyers Pass or ‘Bring Your Sister To Work Day’ (Thanks Eku!)

CAN’T DO FASHION WEEK WITHOUT

My favourite ‘of-the-moment’ sunglasses, my mobile phone and my Temple Muse Dairy (and pen!)

FASHION WEEK DO AND DON’T

DO keep hydrated and bring water because the heat struggles are real! DO bring flats whether it be trainers, sandals or some flat pumps in a shoe bag as one can’t last in those heels all day. DO bring a phone charger pack to keep your mobile juiced for the countless pics you’ll be taking. DO plan your getaway as easy and swiftly as possible with Uber Lagos

DON’T be a stickler for time, these things never run on time! DON’T forget your passes….
