Ahead of his 25th birthday on Saturday, Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama has been officially announced as a new Tottenham Hotspur player.
After becoming the first Kenyan to feature in the English Premier League, the physically imposing defensive midfielder leaves Southampton for the North London club, signing a five-year deal that will see him playing Champions League football next season.
The Kenya international flew in to London from Nairobi last weekend to complete a medical and finalise the deal, but Spurs only confirmed the deal via Twitter on Thursday night.

‘We are delighted to announce that we have completed the transfer of Victor Wanyama from Southampton. The midfielder has agreed a contract with the club until 2021,’ Tottenham announced on their official Twitter handle.
Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino previously brought Wanyama to the Saints when he was in charge during the 2013-14 season, and he will now be reunited with the tactician who holds him in high esteem.
Wanyama has established himself as a respected player within the Premier League, contributing fine performances for Southampton during 94 appearances for the club.
The former Celtic player wrote a goodbye message to his Southampton fans and the club in general on his website, thanking them for his successful stint at the club.
