Mary Njoku announces Rok TV is launching in the UK with a massive party

UK lovers of all things Nollywood are in for a treat as Rok Studios announces it is launching a Nollywood TV channel on Sky.

From September 29, you’ll be able to watch thousands of hours of Husbands of Lagos, Desperate Housegirls, Losing Control and Cougars. Life is good.

This channel is an unashamed celebration of all things Nollywood.

‘As a production house, we have been obsessed with curating amazing African content and telling African stories our way,’ said Rok CEO Mary Njoku. ‘With the launch of Rok on Sky, we can bring our stories to millions more. This channel is an unashamed celebration of all things Nollywood, but more than that, a celebration of African stories – in our own words, with our own characters, with our own drama.’

The Rok squad will be having a party in London on September 30 to celebrate the launch – conveniently timed with Nigeria’s Independence day. John Dumelo, Mercy Aigbe Gentry, Ini Edo, Desmond Elliot, Annie Idibia are just some of the Nollywood greats on the guest list. We’ll be reporting from the event on TRUE Africa so stay tuned.

We have a pair of tickets to give away to the gala event. Can you get yourself to 8 Northumberland Avenue, London, at 6pm on September 30? The organisers promise skits, laughs and a 30-min documentary on the rise of Rok TV.

Sorry, you’ll have to get there yourself and organise accommodation but it’s sure to be worth it. Please RT the tweet below and email us at info@trueafrica.co or post this article on your Facebook page and email us the link to it. Answers in before Tuesday 27, please!

The channel is backed by iRoko TV which is run by Rok CEO Mary Njoku’s husband, Jason. Keep it in the family!
