TRUE Africa

Nanaya on her latest single Good Girl featuring Pappy Kojo

Nanaya (pronounced Na.na.ya – the dots are silent!) is a Ghanaian Afro-R’n’B singer residing in the ATL area, originally Teaneck, NJ (USA). She’s just released a track with Hiplife artist Pappy Kojo.

What are your musical influences?

Toughie. I’d have to say John Legend, Jhene Aiko, India.Arie and Ms Lauryn Hill.

What’s it like to work in the music industry where you are?

Definitely interesting – when I was residing in London everyone was about connections so collaborations were popping up left and right. Atlanta everyone can not just sing but SANG, so it can be a little more about grit and pushing yourself.

What’s a night out like where you live?

Atlanta has some of the best food and best music so kicking it at one of its many coffee shops and grabbing a bite to eat in midtown sounds amazing to me, (but I’m a little more chill!)

What song do you listen to: (a) turn up to (b) feel sexy (c) pine over your ex

(a) Beyoncé
(b) Beyoncé
(c) Beyoncé!!!

Tell us about your latest single Good Girl. What is it about?

na.na.ya – Good Girl ft. Pappykojo by na.na.ya

Good Girl is a woman’s anthem! Most of all, it’s a nod to women who are a bit more low-key but still all about their business.
