Well, we know what our summer song is this year!
Karim Kharbouch AKA French Montana AKA Mr (ex) Khloe Kardashian has just released a video for his new track Unforgettable. It features Swae Lee of duo Rae Sremmurd and was a chance for him to go back to his roots! Well, kinda. Not Morocco but he went back to Africa!
The video, directed by French and Spiff TV, was filmed in the streets of Kampala, Uganda and features an array of local kids and young adults dancing a long to the track including the popular Ugandan dance crew Ghetto Kids.
The catchy tune is already topping the charts and is a favourite on the TRUE Africa ‘summer jam’ playlist!
It has also caused a new ‘dance challenge’ on Instagram called #unforgettabledancechallenge that saw P Diddy dancing to the track on his private jet; Swizz Beatz shaking his thing at home with sons; and DJ Khaled competing in the dance challenge on stage at this year’s Coachella.
The video for Unforgettable came after the rapper’s controversial comments about a black woman on Twitter. Recently, Montana apologised for referring to a Twitter user as a ‘musty crusty dusty rusty ass hoe’ with ‘nappy ass poetic justice braids.’
French later apologised tweeting:
‘My son is black, and I was born in africa I lived there for 13 years. I ain’t no punching bag, and I don’t discriminate! Don’t come for me.
‘My mother is african queen and I was married to a beautiful black queen. All I did was defend myself if I offended anybody I apologize. But this is a perfect example of even when u defending yourself and minding your Business social media would drag your name thru the mud !! But on another note #STAYWOKE.’
