Alicia Keys has written a powerful essay for actress and feminist Lena Dunham’s newsletter where she opens up about insecurities from working in the ‘industry’.
The essay leads with a stunning image of the 15-time Grammy winner (can you believe it?) in a headscarf and sweatshirt, without makeup, post-gym workout.
With a new album soon out she’s taking on the media’s obsession with makeup and airbrushing by going bare-faced in her recent music video In Common and for a spread for magazine Vanity Fair. Husband Swiss Beatz posted one of the images on Instagram showing off a glowing Keys:
Alicia ends the essay on a powerful note; ‘I don’t want to cover up anymore. Not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth. Nothing.’
