Non-profit architecture firm MASS Design Group are launching a two-year fellowship for recently graduated architects – and applications are still open.
The African Design Centre will train architects in sustainable modes of design and construction in Kigali, Rwanda. The programme director for the fellowship is Rwandan architect Christian Benimana. Benimana studied architecture at Tongji University, Shanghai. He has gone on to design multiple buildings on the continent, particularly in the health sector.
Rapidly developing cities and growing populations means there is a huge demand for – and a notable deficit of – architects in Africa. The African Design Centre seeks to tackle this scarcity by opening more centres in other cities on the continent. MASS Design Group have offices in Kigali and Boston currently.
If you’re a recent architecture graduate you can apply to be part of the course that begins on September 5. Applications close on June 29.
