Jourdan Dunn was spotted wearing Bfyne’s ‘Kenzo’ swimsuit at Coachella while Eva Marcille, Fantasia, Justine Skye and Lala have all worn the sexy pool and beach wear line started by the designer, entrepreneur and Nigerian-American artist, Buki Ade in 2014.
‘I chose to use design as a way to change the fashion industry through representing my own unique culture and show the world a different take on design,’ the designed told TRUE Africa. ‘I was inspired to start a swimwear line after searching for a unique swimsuit while on vacation; that’s when I realised the industry lacked creativity and representation of African designers, so I became that representation.’
We asked Buki about her top tips for a beach trip. Apart from bringing lots of suncream (tanlines beware!), she told us ‘the more swimsuit options you take with you the better. You never know what kind of mood you’ll be in while on holiday and most likely your home is thousands of miles away. Packing a swimsuit that’s versatile is a must, swimsuit by day, top by night!’
