If you’ve been to Paris in the last months, you can’t not know about MHD.

The 21-year-old Senegalese-Guinean rapper from the 19th arrondissement of Paris is making a lot of noise and is one of my France’s biggest breakthrough artists of 2016.

He’s ‘invented’ a new music wave called Afrotrap. And surprise: it’s a mix of Afrobeats and trap music.

Everything started last summer when MHD was on holiday in the south of France. He posted a video of himself freestyling on his FB. The video got lots of views and people kept asking him to freestyle – so that’s what he did. His energetic dances have gone viral especially for this track inspired by footballer Roger Milla’s celebratory dance. It’s a fave amongst footballers of today:

After AfroTrap Partie 1 was online, he kept posting a new freestyle almost every month.

He released his first album on April 15 that’s as popular as ever. Enough said? It’s your playlist for this summer.
