Screw Power Lists. Here’s a pick ‘n’ mix selection of some young people who are actually doing things. In this #EyesOn2016 series, they tell us what’s going to blow up in 2016.

PJULS is a creative and model born and raised on the south side of Chicago. She studied social justice and communications and strives to promote positive images of and for black people. Tell us about Team Melanin?

Team Melanin is a platform derived from Melanin Monday, a campaign created by the singer and creative Young Paris. I manage the Team Melanin page, in which we strive to present positive images of blackness and to erase the colour lines of dark skin and light skin.

We tag everyone Team Melanin because we want to show that we (black people) are all one. I’m very excited to be able to present these images and give artists and models the platform where their work can be shared and accepted because for artists of colour it doesn’t happen enough and I really strive to change that.

What are you going to remember 2015 for?

Wowww… so much. Going to New York and working with creatives I’ve looked up to for years. Getting a mural in my hometown of Chicago and, honestly, just being brave enough to follow my dreams and goals.

What or who do you think is going to blow up in 2016?

I think a lot of these black girl positive Tumblr and IG pages are doing great work. They are so unapologetic and brave. I definitely want to see them gain more exposure.

What’s keeping you busy in 2016?

I want to transition into acting so I think that along with modelling will be my main focus.
