‘Azgo’ means ‘let’s go’ in old slang in Maputo, Mozambique – and the city will be hosting the country international arts and culture festival this May.

From May 20 and 21, homegrown artists like Roberto Chitsondzo, Wazimba, Muzilla and political hip-hop act Azagaia will be taking to the stage to perform.

There’ll be artists performing ‘Afro soul to electro, marrabenta to coupé-décalé, hip-hop to kizomba, R&B to pop.’ International acts from far away places will also come to take part: New Zealand’s ‘Electric Blue Witch-Hop’ artist Estère is not to be missed.

It’s not all laidback fun though. The festival theme is on the issue of climate change. Azgo Festival sounds like it’ll be special!
